The centre provides opportunities for participation in sport and fitness activity for the whole community with a special emphasis in providing quality services for children and young people. The centres Youth club, Cool and Fun 4 all projects provide activities for up to 400 young people each week at 18 different locations across Hartlepool.
The centre also provides sport, dance and fitness interventions for adults as well as training, conference and catering facilities.
Since 2000 the centre has been involved in providing support and alternative education through Children’s Fund and the Aims project. The centre runs the Children’s Fund and Fast project family befriending services.
As well as the support from staff members, support is available from other project workers with a variety of different skills. Practical advice is available for young people to make career choices, with family problems and any other difficulties young people may encounter within their lives.
The following qualifications will be available via the Going Forward project:
Level 1 Award in Sports Leadership
Level 2 Award in Sports Leadership
Volunteering opportunities are also available within the centre and external youth projects.
