The Project aims to assist Young Carers aged between 16 -18 who care for a parent, sibling or grandparent with a disability, sensory impairment, illness, mental health illness or drug/alcohol addiction
The project provides respite from caring responsibilities through emotional, social, fun and educationally focused activities, such as: small group work sessions, youth forums, football activities, junior clubs, one to one support, counselling and various activities during school holidays.
The Young Carers staff work and organise outreach activities to enhance lifestyle, help develop social skills and provide opportunities for the Young Carers.
Through the Going Forward programme Hartlepool Carers will support people 16 - 18 into Further Education, training and employment. The package of support will be based around the individuals needs allowing them to take and make as many life chances as possible.
Bespoke Personal Development Qualifications will be offered to all participants.
